Job summary

Angus Council is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Planning Officer on a 12-month maternity cover contract, based at Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar. This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home part of the week and time in council buildings.

You will assist with processing and assessing planning applications, provide guidance to applicants, agents and the public, and support planning appeals and reviews within a busy Development Standards Team.

Qualifications

• Interest in planning and development with good communication and organisational skills.
• Experience of the planning system or development management is advantageous.
• Willing to consider part-time working arrangements for suitable candidates.
• Qualifications or experience in planning or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing and assessment of planning applications.
• Provide advice to applicants, agents and members of the public.
• Validate applications, carry out site visits and assess proposals against policy.
• Support planning appeals and reviews within a busy Development Standards Team.
