Job summary

Hamilton Woods Group is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Leicester finance team on a 15-month fixed-term contract. This role offers hybrid working patterns and a fantastic environment to develop management accounting skills, with exposure to month-end reporting and financial controls.

You will support month-end processes, prepare management accounts, reconciliations, intercompany activity, and assist with analysis of variances.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a fast-paced organisation.
• Experience supporting month-end processes and preparing financial information.
• Knowledge of journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the business.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Part-qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA, or a genuine intention to pursue one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
• Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Process and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Calculate and maintain provisions for bad debts, bonuses and commissions.
• Support financial analysis, identifying trends and explaining variances within monthly management reports.
• Liaise with colleagues across finance to resolve queries and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain effective financial controls and ensure accounting processes are followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide support across the wider finance function when required.
