Belmont Recruitment is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our client on a temporary two-year contract. The role involves providing accountancy support across services, assisting with financial monitoring, planning and reporting, and advising budget managers.

The position offers hybrid working with two days on site in Redcar and 37 hours per week. The successful candidate will produce financial analyses, assist with year-end processes, VAT and treasury activities, and help maintain robust

Qualifications

• Recognised accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
• Experience advising budget managers on financial matters.
• Experience improving financial systems for reporting.
• Knowledge of Accounting Code of Practice and local authority guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence colleagues.

Responsabilités

• Support the Directorate Accountant in delivering a full range of accountancy duties.
• Produce monthly and quarterly financial analyses to support monitoring.
• Prepare revenue and capital reports, MI and budget monitoring reports.
• Provide financial advice to budget managers for planning and control.
• Develop and deliver financial training for budget managers.
• Support project appraisals and input into business cases when required.
• Assist with final accounts and the statement of accounts.
• Support VAT and treasury management arrangements and costing procedures.
• Advise on external funding arrangements, grants, and fees.
• Maintain effective financial controls and drive improvements in systems and reporting.
