A Snapshot of your day

As a HVDC Controls Engineer, you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors, utilizing a transient network analysis laboratory in Manchester.

You will report to the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be responsible for providing engineering work packages aligned with project and business objectives.

Your responsibilities

• Design of open and closed loop control systems for HVDC.
• Preparation of design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations.
• Clarification of technical requirements with project teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK, including verification through simulation tools and real-time testing.
• Remote support during commissioning and warranty phases.

Your skills and qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Experience in energy and control technology.
• Knowledge of converter and high voltage technology, as well as open and closed loop controls.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/SIMULINK, including model-based implementation and verification.
• Experience with automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7.
• Fluent in English; German skills are a plus.
