HVAC TECHNICAL TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client is a leading Commercial/Industrial HVAC/R & Plumbing Company, headquartered in Eastern PA. They provide Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Plumbing, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R), Piping, Design Build, Pipe Video, Industrial Boiler Service, and more.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HVAC Technical Training Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs to HVAC technicians, covering installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and safety procedures of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and practical field experience, ensuring trainees acquire the necessary skills to perform effectively in the HVAC industry; they may also develop and update training materials to align with current industry standards and technologies.

Curriculum development:

  1. Design and update training course content, lesson plans, and instructional materials based on industry requirements and emerging technologies.

Classroom instruction:

  1. Deliver theoretical knowledge through lectures, presentations, and interactive discussions covering HVAC principles, system components, and troubleshooting techniques.

Hands-on training:

  1. Guide trainees in practical exercises, including equipment operation, system installation, maintenance procedures, and repair simulations in a controlled lab environment.

Performance evaluation:

  1. Assess trainee progress through hands-on demonstrations, quizzes, practical exams, and performance evaluations to identify areas for improvement.

Safety training:

  1. Emphasize safety protocols and procedures related to working with HVAC systems, including proper tool usage, refrigerant handling, and electrical safety.

Mentorship and coaching:

  1. Provide individual support to trainees, addressing specific learning needs and offering guidance throughout the training process. Job shadow technicians to evaluate classroom theory being applied to real-life situations.

Industry updates:

  1. Stay informed about the latest HVAC advancements, codes, and regulations to incorporate relevant information into training programs.

Collaboration:

  1. Work with other trainers, supervisors, and industry experts to ensure training aligns with company standards and industry best practices.

Technical expertise:

  1. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, including residential and commercial applications, troubleshooting techniques, and equipment operation.

Teaching skills:

  1. Effective communication abilities, ability to explain complex concepts clearly, and engage learners in the training process.

Hands-on experience:

  1. Proven experience as a working HVAC technician with practical knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair procedures.

Instructional design:

  1. Understanding of instructional methods, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.

Safety awareness:

  1. Commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment and promoting safety practices.

Certification:

  1. May require relevant HVAC certifications depending on the region and employer.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 7+ years of instructional HVAC training experience
  2. HVAC-related certifications (such as EPA 608, NATE, or state-specific HVAC licenses)
  3. Diploma, associate degree, or certification in HVAC or a related technical field.
  4. Understanding of instructional methods, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.

COMPENSATION & LOCATION:

This position will be based out of Reading, PA. This is a full-time position that is available for immediate hire. A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that will include a base salary, aggressive incentive plan, car allowance/company vehicle, 401K with annual company contribution, and comprehensive healthcare benefits.
