Job description

Overview

Here at Serco we are looking for Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our FM department at HMP Ashfield, a category C male establishment prison based in Pucklechurch near Bristol. The operational capacity is for 416 prisoners and it takes a skilled team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper working order.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering work, preventative maintenance and repairs. Ensure pre-planned maintenance schedules are kept up to date and maintained as required.
• Carry out fault finding and defect rectification to items of installed plant and equipment as defined and specified.
• Assist in multi-trade support of other members of the FM service team (e.g., plumbing).
• Escort contractors around the site as required in accordance with written procedures.
• Carry out the installation of new plant and apparatus as defined and specified.
• Investigate the performance of installed plant and equipment and produce related reports and recommendations as required.
• Become familiar with the operation and maintenance of the various systems and equipment installed on the premises as defined or requested.
• Be aware of all Health & Safety considerations on site.
• Participate in a call-out rota and potential weekend working.

Qualifications and Experience

• HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering Qualification (C&G, NVQ).
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and 3 years post-qualification experience.
• Membership of a relevant technical professional body is desirable.
