Job summary

Assystem UK Ltd is seeking a mid-senior HVAC design engineer to act as the primary interface between design teams and construction crews. The role involves developing and reviewing HVAC designs, ensuring compliance with standards, and coordinating across mechanical, electrical, and building disciplines.

Applicants should have 3–5 years of relevant HVAC experience, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively in a project-based, regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary interface between HVAC design teams and construction/installation teams.
• Develop and review HVAC designs and confirm accuracy of detailed specifications and outputs.
• Perform technical assessments to ensure compliance with relevant standards and project requirements.
• Review and validate contractor documentation, drawings, method statements, and test plans.
• Support the integration of HVAC systems with broader mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

Qualifications

• EssentialDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in HVAC design, building services engineering or system with HVAC codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, CIBSE, ISO, local regulations).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
• Experience working with contractors, site teams, and multi-disciplinary engineering groups.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a project-based environment.
• Experience in regulated industries or complex infrastructure projects is advantageous but not essential.

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency with HVAC design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, BIM tools, load calculation software).
• Understanding of ventilation, heat load calculations, ductwork sizing, equipment selection, and system performance analysis.
• Knowledge of commissioning processes and quality assurance procedures.
• Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
