Job Description: Apprentice Service Technician

The Apprentice Service Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and technical support while learning on the job and studying towards NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. This role is vital for providing top-tier service to maintain customer plant and equipment as per our maintenance and service contracts. The goal is to maximize technician productivity, enhance customer experience, and improve operational processes. The role includes a comprehensive training pathway to become a qualified Service Technician.

Key Responsibilities
Customer and Technical
  • Learn to diagnose system problems and service products and equipment on assigned projects and customer site visits.
  • Attend customer sites for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), customer breakdowns, warranty work, hire, and commissioning tasks.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Collaborate with Service desk, Sales, and Operations teams to share customer insights.
  • Use advanced software, hand tools, blueprints, and engineering specs to diagnose and repair units, with full training provided.
  • Complete reporting and analysis, including generating reports on work orders.
  • Foster strong customer relationships through excellent service.
  • Communicate with supervisors, service managers, senior technicians, and customers to share updates and drive improvements.
Internal Controls and Administration
  • Study towards NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
  • Understand customer service principles and effective communication skills.
  • Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Use diagnostic software, Apps, and MS Office Suite.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing industry as part of NVQ studies.
  • Strong people and communication skills with a positive attitude.
  • Possess or be studying towards relevant certificates, including NVQ Level 2 and 3 with F-Gas.
  • Willing to cover standby and call-out duties, including weekends and bank holidays, after passing NVQ levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Hold a valid UK driver’s license; company vehicle provided.
  • Confirmed right to work in the country of application.
