Job description

At Tata Technologies we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering and validating the products of tomorrow for the world's leading manufacturers. Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a HV Systems Simulation Engineer to be based at our customer's site in Gaydon.

Our Embedded Systems Solutions department (ESS) encompasses all activities outlined under the Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) process framework, including systems engineering, software engineering, coding, and all levels of functional testing. Beyond core development, ESS also integrates critical supporting processes such as project management, risk assessment, functional safety, and cybersecurity, ensuring compliance with ASPICE standards and delivering reliable, secure, and high-quality embedded systems & solutions.

The Role:

The Systems Simulation Engineer will be responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing system-level simulations for Electrified Powertrain (ePT) components. This role involves ensuring robust electrothermal performance, functional safety, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards while collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to drive quality and efficiency.

Area of Responsibility

Electrothermal Behavior & Component Sizing:
  • Analyze and optimize the electrothermal behavior of Electrified Powertrain systems, including battery packs, eMotors, inverters, DC-DC converters, and onboard chargers.
  • Contactor sizing and troubleshooting-assessing thermal behavior across mission profiles and identifying failure handling solutions.
  • Develop strategies for managing thermal impact on contactors, pyro-fuses, and current sensors.
  • Evaluate electrothermal behavior of busbars, assessing the effects of material contact across modules, busbars, contactors, and connectors.
Systems & Mechanical Integration:
  • Ensure component sizing meets weight and dimensional targets while aligning with system requirements.
  • Support design and validation of manufacturing methods for busbars and connectors.
  • Assess manufacturability and serviceability aspects of system design for ease of assembly and maintenance.
Compliance & Functional Safety:
  • Implement functional safety practices for powertrain electrification systems, adhering to industry standards such as ISO 26262.
  • Ensure compliance with global automotive standards and certification requirements for high-voltage electrical systems.
Supplier & Quality Management:
  • Manage supplier interactions, including requirement cascading, quality control, design validation (DV), and logistics coordination.
  • Facilitate collaboration between AVL simulation teams and AML validation teams, ensuring accurate data exchange and reporting.
  • Oversee simulation activities to validate system designs and verify thermal and electrothermal parameters.
Key Experience:

Desired Qualifications & Skills:
  • Strong expertise in system simulations, electrothermal modeling, and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience with contactor sizing, pyro-fuse functionality, and current sensor analysis.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and battery pack system integration.
  • Knowledge of engineering tools like System Composer, Virtual Vehicle Composer, Concept EV, and Polarion.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and drive quality control efforts.
  • Experience with global automotive standards and certification requirements for electrified powertrains.
Work Environment & Collaboration:
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, validation specialists, and manufacturing experts.
