Job summary

Millbank Holdings is seeking an experienced High Voltage Project Manager to lead major National Grid transmission projects across the UK. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage design and construction interfaces, and ensure delivery on time, within budget and to safety standards.

The role requires a strong background in 132kV/275kV/400kV work, SMSTS, a valid UK driving licence, and proven stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing 132kV, 275kV or 400kV transmission projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV substation, cable and plant packages on major transmission projects.
• Manage programmes, resources and construction activities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Chair design reviews and manage RFIs and design approvals.
• Ensure programme, cost, quality and technical objectives are achieved.
• Oversee document control, BIM requirements and design management processes.
• Manage commercial performance, subcontractor packages, variations and change control.
• Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Produce regular project reports and maintain strong client relationships.
• Lead project teams, mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement.

Deliver Major National Grid Transmission Projects

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in delivering 132kV, 275kV or 400kV transmission projects?

We're working with a leading engineering contractor to recruit a High Voltage Project Manager to take ownership of major National Grid infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage complex design and construction interfaces, and play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most critical energy infrastructure.

Role

As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for the safe, commercial and successful delivery of HV transmission works, leading engineering teams, designers and subcontractors from design through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of HV substation, cable and plant packages on major transmission projects.


• Manage project programmes, resources and construction activities to ensure successful delivery.


• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders.


• Chair design reviews and manage technical queries, RFIs and design approvals.


• Ensure programme, cost, quality and technical objectives are achieved.


• Oversee document control, BIM requirements and design management processes.


• Manage commercial performance, subcontractor packages, variations and change control.


• Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.


• Ensure compliance with National Grid standards, contractual obligations and HSQE requirements.


• Produce regular project reports and maintain strong client relationships.


• Lead project teams, mentor engineers and promote continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background delivering National Grid transmission infrastructure.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience managing 132kV, 275kV or 400kV transmission projects.


• Previous experience working for a principal contractor or EPC contractor.


• Strong knowledge of National Grid specifications, procedures and technical standards.


• Experience managing HV design, construction and subcontractor interfaces.


• Commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, forecasts and subcontract accounts.


• Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.


• Strong understanding of design management, BIM and document control.


• SMSTS qualified.


• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

• National Grid Competent Person (CP) status.


• Experience delivering Design & Build projects.


• Knowledge of temporary works management.


• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
