Job summary

Ipsum is seeking a Technical Estimator in Sidcup to provide specialist HV and LV engineering cost estimates for electrical power maintenance projects, evaluating client requirements and developing robust quotations. You will conduct site surveys, interpret drawings, ensure BS standards compliance, manage supplier quotations, and support handovers to operations, with strong communication across teams.

Qualifications

• HNC/ONC in power engineering or working towards (desirable).
• IET member or equivalent.
• Proven experience within the Electrical industry.
• Experience in a customer facing environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to learn other bespoke software platforms.
• Experience of customer relationship management and supplier relationship management.
• Strong ability to prioritise varying workloads.
• Design appreciation / understanding (desirable).
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Tender & cost preparation: conduct detailed site visits and technical surveys to prepare accurate, complete and commercially robust quotations.
• Interpret drawings, schematics and client briefs to develop Bills of Quantities and fully costed quotations.
• Standards compliance: ensure HV/LV solutions comply with British Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Supply chain & subcontractor management: source and benchmark quotations ensuring technical suitability and alignment with tender requirements.
• Risk & value engineering: identify risks and develop value-engineering proposals to optimise cost and safety.
• Project & maintenance handovers: lead handovers between Sales, Engineering and Operations and support post-tender clarifications.
