OCU Connect is looking for an experienced HV Fitter to work across various locations in Leeds and Sheffield.

As an HV Fitter, you will lead electrical fitting tasks, maintenance activities, and equipment repairs on the Electrical Distribution Network. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will ensure the efficient operation of electrical plant and equipment, adherence to safety standards, and timely completion of tasks.

You will need to:

• Install electrical equipment in distribution substations, including wiring and cabling on new equipment, lighting, earthing, and protection multicore cabling.
• Lead and perform mechanical fitting tasks, including assembly, installation, disassembly, and alignment of machinery and components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments for assembly and adjustment of mechanical parts.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to identify and address mechanical issues.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, malfunctions, and breakdowns.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems using diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
• Analyze equipment performance data and conduct tests to diagnose electrical issues and optimize performance.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow safety protocols and regulations, ensuring compliance and minimizing risks.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Prepare reports and updates on maintenance and equipment status.
• Support and train junior fitters and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Promote teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

To be successful, you will need:

• Proven experience as an HV fitter or electrical technician, with a focus on electrical fitting, maintenance, and repair, ideally with 2+ years of experience, including DNO or substation exposure.
• Strong electrical aptitude and skills, including reading engineering drawings and using tools for assembly and alignment.
• Good knowledge of electrical systems.
• Understanding of safety regulations and best practices for electrical maintenance.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeships in electrical engineering or fitting are desirable.
