If you are interested in the challenges of the energy sector and achieving NetZero, you could work with various clients as a HV Electrical Power System Study Engineer within our Energy Networks team, based in Epsom, Leeds, Birmingham, or Glasgow.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct simulations and analytical studies for transmission and distribution, planning, load and generation interconnection, and renewable integration.
  • Prepare simulation study models and perform power system studies, including grid compliance for Wind, Solar, BESS, and Hybrid projects.
  • Perform steady state and dynamic power flow analysis, Fault Ride Through studies, power quality analysis, and electromagnetic transient analysis (EMTP).
  • Simulate networks involving HVDC, FACTS, and inverter-based generation.

Protection calculations include:

  • Overcurrent and earth fault protection coordination for transmission and distribution networks.
  • Protection calculations for transformers, motors, busbars, and generators.

Additional responsibilities involve consulting, research, report writing, proposal responses, mentoring, and client presentations. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with a willingness to travel.

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
  • Knowledge of Grid Codes and Power Electronic Converters.
  • Experience with system study software such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink, and Python coding.
