Job description

The role involves working on multiple client sites, maintaining transformers and switchgear, and working on projects across the UK.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Working on HV, LV, transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment.
  2. Carrying out service and remedial works on equipment.
  3. Writing detailed quality reports and daily site reports.
  4. Performing electrical testing and fault finding.
  5. Conducting mechanical modifications and repairs.
  6. Performing routine PPM (planned preventive maintenance) to manufacturer standards.
  7. Proactively reporting faults to equipment.
  8. Testing LV protection and documenting results accurately.
  9. Installing HV/LV panels and transformers according to manufacturer standards.

Senior Authorised Person Accountabilities:

  1. Complying with company HV safety rules and procedures at all times.
  2. Undertaking necessary SAP-approved training and refreshers.
  3. Being appointed by the Authorising Engineer and assessed as competent to act as SAP.
  4. Producing accurate switching programs.
  5. Issuing safety-related documents to qualified persons.
  6. Maintaining a log of SAP activities for audit purposes.
  7. Carrying out functional and operating switching of HV distribution systems within appointment criteria.
  8. Performing maintenance and testing of HV switchgear within appointment criteria.
  9. Participating in the company's out-of-hours on-call system as required.

About You

Desirable Qualifications & Professional Memberships:

  • BTEC in Electrical Engineering or C&G equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical power systems up to 33KV.
  • Good transformer knowledge and understanding.

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Operational experience as an HV Electrical Fitter.
  • Ability to work proactively alone or in a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ensuring high standards when working on client sites.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Eligibility for SC/CTC clearance and DBS check.
  • Full UK driving license.
