HV Control Engineer - East of England
Operating from a state-of-the-art Control Centre in East Anglia, your role will be pivotal in overseeing the daily operational requirements of National Critical Energy Generation Infrastructure. You will focus on managing real-time network activities to ensure seamless and efficient performance, while actively interfacing with key industry stakeholders to uphold the integrity and reliability of the network.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities:
- Integrate into the Global 24/7 NRG Control Point Family
- Support and contribute to the facilities culture of excellence
- Operate and coordinate all high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) activities via the NRG Control Point SCADA systems
- Ensure optimal safety, production, and availability by managing real-time network operations and coordinating maintenance tasks to maximise asset availability and provide system stability
- Monitor and influence implementation and adherence to Global Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules
- Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and Operating systems
- Communicate daily and coordinate with the Global site Engineers
- Participate in the 24/7 shift operational pattern
- Adapt to changing operational needs and ensure continuous support for network operations and maintenance activities
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
Ensure the health and safety of all staff under direct control or supervision. Carry out all activities in a safe manner in line with current risk assessments and good working practices. Report accidents/incidents in a timely manner. Comply with OEG Group Health and Safety Policy.
Skills And Experience:
- Expertise in project management, engineering, high voltage (HV) safety, and asset analysis
- Proven track record in an electrical engineering role, with significant experience across HV Infrastructure (11-400kV)
- Experience in Control Room or Control Systems, ideally within national electrical infrastructure or marine industries, with transferable skills in managing large rotating machinery and operational maintenance
- Understanding of Electrical single line diagrams (SLDs) and Mechanical piping & instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)
- Ability to ensure ‘Safety from the System’ and adherence to Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules
- Experience overseeing Electrical & Mechanical activities for safety, technical review, contractual compliance, and operational duties
- Experience implementing compliance processes for Grid connection points

Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree and Apprenticeship or equivalent (highly desirable)
- Experience and authorization in Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules
