HV Cables CAD Engineer
About the Role
The HV Cables CAD Engineer will be responsible for technical CAD drafting, reviewing employer requirements, and site engineering activities related to the management and construction of HV transmission projects. This role involves working at site and/or head office, with a hybrid remote/office setup.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Preparation of project design drawings, including site prep drawings, route plans, working areas, detailed long sections/cross sections, single line diagrams, and data extraction.
- 3D cable routing as required.
- Measuring cable routes and confirming route lengths on-site at contract and tender levels.
- Reviewing employer requirements and implementing them into CAD drawings.
- Preparation and review of project as-built drawings, checking as-builts, and H&S files for turnkey projects.
- Conducting site surveys and extracting data to produce CAD models.
- Assisting with project tender packages related to cabling.
- Coordinating with internal and external teams and project stakeholders.
- Ensuring drawings adhere to company CAD standards and are properly stored and archived.
- Providing support and mentorship to technicians and apprentices.
- Managing work to strict deadlines and budgets.
- Preparing timesheet records for chargeable work.
What You Bring
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D and 3D, BIM 360, and Revit. Experience in drafting single line diagrams and trench cross sections is preferred.
- Site visit experience for surveying and high-standard drawings.
- Background in handling 3D cable routing.
- Ability to review project as-builts.
- Persons (National Grid) accreditation or willingness to facilitate.
- CSCS card (desirable, can be supplied).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
