Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking a CAD Technician to design and draft high-voltage substation drawings and documents. You will create 2D/3D CAD drawings, electrical schematics, and ensure compliance with BS/ENA standards while collaborating with project teams.

The role emphasizes independent task execution, drawing package preparation, and QA checks across tender, construction, and handover stages within a dynamic UK team.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction or related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years experience as a CAD Technician in HV/power/utilities.
• Experience working independently on design tasks within a project-driven environment.
• BIM 360 modelling would be preferred; proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in AutoCAD is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and manage detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for high-voltage cable systems.
• Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and termination drawings for substations.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to interpret design requirements and resolve technical queries.
• Prepare drawing packages for tender, construction, and handover stages.
• Maintain the project drawing register and perform QA checks on drawings.
• Assist in preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) from drawings.
