Our client is a global data centre services organization, steadily growing their presence, and has a requirement for a HVAP Shift Manager based at a newly built data centre facility in Heathrow. The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling and implementing deliverables against all allocated Customer Specific Service Level and KPI Agreements. This role contributes directly to the development and successful operation of the Managed Services function, working with colleagues to develop and implement departmental strategy, objectives, and improvement processes.

The operational requirements for customer sites include being part of a team covering 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on a shift rota basis, and being available to cover shifts where possible. The Shift Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of the shift, carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Reactive works on Building Services Systems within a contracted site.

Duties:

  1. Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance & Reactive maintenance tasks are carried out for all site-related assets, using the Planned Preventative Maintenance System.
  2. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records related to Health & Safety, Building Compliance, and Quality Assurance.
  3. This role requires an HV qualification, and the individual must obtain Authorised Person status to meet contract requirements.
  4. Ensure subcontractors perform according to contract requirements. Administer subcontractor work approvals and ensure safe operation during repairs or servicing on site.
  5. Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with Quality, Health & Safety procedures, and client requirements (or an approved client system).
  6. Ensure swift remediation of plant faults and defects to maintain plant in a serviceable condition at all times.
  7. Escalate incidents or concerns on site to the Engineering Manager as per the site escalation procedure.
  8. Perform routine quality checks on workforce activities, record keeping, and general housekeeping.
  9. Ensure availability of suitable spares for maintenance of plant.
  10. Monitor building environmental conditions using the BMS / Ignition System and maintain acceptable internal conditions.
  11. Complete comprehensive maintenance records via job sheets.
  12. Prepare, review, and utilize Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks (PPMs and reactive) to ensure safe working practices.
  13. Supervise and monitor subcontractor work while on site, ensuring method statements and risk assessments are followed.
  14. Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible with working patterns.

Requirements:

  1. Trade-trained with ideally 3 years’ experience in building services.
  2. City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
  3. Experience working on critical sites (Data Centres or Banking Sites).
  4. Good knowledge of building services.
  5. Ability to lead a team under pressure, remaining calm, clear, and focused to deliver required services within time constraints.
  6. Individuals demonstrating commitment and relevant experience may be considered even if they do not meet all technical qualifications, subject to Director approval.
  7. Willingness to attend on- and off-site training for plant and systems, which may require nights away from home.
