Job summary

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS.
• Strong subject knowledge of History across KS3 and KS4.
• Experience planning and delivering engaging History lessons in a secondary school.
• The ability and willingness to teach additional Humanities subjects where required.
• Excellent classroom management and strong communication skills.
• A positive, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to teaching with a focus on raising attainment.

Job Title: History Teacher

Salary: £34,071 - £52,839 per annum (FTE)

Do you have strong classroom management skills and the ability to deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4?

Are you an adaptable and enthusiastic teacher who would enjoy working in a supportive secondary school, with opportunities to teach across other Humanities subjects?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a small, welcoming secondary school based in South Essex, which is looking to appoint a History Teacher. The school caters for students aged 11-16 and prides itself on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student is known, relationships are valued and high expectations are maintained.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated History Teacher on a permanent, full-time basis from November 2026. The successful History Teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4, supporting students to develop historical knowledge, critical thinking and analytical skills, whilst demonstrating flexibility to teach other Humanities subjects where required.

The successful History Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS
• Strong subject knowledge of History across KS3 and KS4
• Experience planning and delivering engaging History lessons within a secondary school
• The ability and willingness to teach additional Humanities subjects where required
• Excellent classroom management and strong communication skills
• A positive, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to teaching, with a commitment to raising student attainment
