An ambitious and supportive secondary school in Tameside is seeking a Humanities Teacher to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons in History and Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with a passion for fostering critical thinking, cultural awareness, and ethical understanding in young people.
About the Role:
You’ll be joining a committed Humanities department where History and Religious Studies are highly valued subjects. Your role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons that encourage curiosity, debate, and a broader understanding of society and historical context. The school has a strong focus on creating a well-rounded curriculum and welcomes teachers who bring creativity and academic rigour to the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach History and Religious Studies to students in Years 7–11, including preparation for GCSE assessments
Develop engaging schemes of work that reflect both curriculum standards and diverse historical/religious perspectives
Use a range of assessment methods to track progress, address learning gaps, and inform planning
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and inspired to achieve
Contribute to the wider life of the school through involvement in cross-curricular projects, RE days, or enrichment activities such as school trips, philosophy clubs, or commemorative events
Collaborate with colleagues in the Humanities department to share best practices and develop resources
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification – ECTs are encouraged to apply
Strong subject knowledge in both History and Religious Studies (RS)
Excellent classroom management and the ability to adapt teaching styles to suit all learners
A reflective practitioner with a passion for delivering relevant and inclusive Humanities education
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
Full-time, long-term role starting as soon as possible or from September
Located in a well-respected secondary school in Tameside, with excellent staff support and CPD opportunities
Competitive daily pay, with potential for a permanent position

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
