Job Title: Humanities Teacher

Location: Belmont Secondary School, Rossendale, Lancashire

Salary: up to GBP35,000 depending on experience (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Humanities Teacher to join our team at Belmont School, located in Rossendale, Lancashire.

About the role

As a Humanities Teacher, you will take a creative and structured approach to teaching your subject(s), planning lessons that meet each pupil's individual learning needs and maximise achievement. You will have the opportunity to lead the development of a Key Stage 4 examination pathway, starting from September 2026.

You will be supported by a committed senior leadership team and work collaboratively with other staff to deliver an engaging and progressive curriculum that develops pupils' knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Humanities lessons tailored to pupils' needs and aligned with the school curriculum
  • Lead the development of the KS4 Humanities examination pathway
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment supporting learning and emotional regulation
  • Uphold safeguarding standards and professional expectations
  • Support pupils with SEMH and complex needs as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Be proactive and flexible in teaching approaches

Essential Criteria:

  • QTS and qualifications/experience in Humanities (e.g., History, Geography, RE)
  • Belief that every pupil can achieve and deserves opportunities
  • Experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive team player with high standards
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training

Desirable

  • Experience with challenging backgrounds or SEMH, ASC
  • Evidence of improving pupil outcomes
  • Full UK Driving Licence

We reserve the right to close the vacancy early. You'll work 80% of your hours for 100% of your pay, subject to a 6-month probation. 4DWW is not a contractual benefit and depends on successful completion of probation.
