Job description

Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Human Resources Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 5 years of HR experience, with expertise in payroll, benefits administration, and handling various HR projects. This role will provide essential support to the HR Manager and contribute to the smooth operation of HR functions. The candidate for this position must consent to and pass a background and drug test.

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Direct Reports: None, this is individual contributor role with high visibility

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  1. Process Payroll: Accurately run payroll and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations (experience with Paychex preferred), 401k weekly and payroll updates and tracking.
  2. Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, plan modifications, COBRA management, and timely response to employee inquiries regarding benefits-related matters.
  3. Leave Administration: Coordinate and manage leave programs, including Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFMLA), Short-Term Disability (STD), and Long-Term Disability (LTD), in accordance with statutory and organizational guidelines.
  4. HR Support & Compliance: Support the maintenance of employee records, assist with the implementation of HR policies, and ensure adherence to employment laws and internal compliance standards.
  5. Learning and Development: Administration of Paychex learning modules to support ISO compliance initiatives, and contribute to the coordination of other employee development efforts.
  6. Administration task: Oversee general office administration tasks, including inventory and procurement of office supplies, management of correspondence and mail, and providing administrative support for day-to-day operations.
  7. Project Management: Maintain and regularly update the company’s organizational and seating charts. Assist with HR-related projects and initiatives as delegated by the HR Manager.
  8. Reporting: Generate HR reports as requested by the HR Manager and Finance Department for audits and compliance reviews.
  9. Employee Relations: Provide comprehensive HR support to a workforce of 100+ employees, both onsite and remote. Serve as a resource for HR-related inquiries.
Skills Required:

  1. Strong knowledge of HR policies, compliance, and benefits administration.
  2. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience Required:

  1. 4-5 years of HR experience, with a focus on payroll and benefits.
  2. Experience with Paychex (preferred) or other payroll processing systems.
Other Requirements:

  1. Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking, grasping, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
Education Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a closely related field is required; candidates possessing a strong academic background in English, Communication, Journalism, Psychology, or related disciplines will be given preference.
