Job Title: Payroll Assistant

Employment: (Part-Time, 21 hrs) 3 full days (7 hrs/day) or 10:00–14:00 across 4 day

Location: Hybrid - Letchworth

We’re looking for a detail-driven Payroll Assistant to support our growing team within a clinical research organisation servicing the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. This role is ideal for someone local who can work from the office 1–2 days per week and is keen to build experience across payroll and HR.

What you’ll do
  • Collect, check and organise payroll information (new starters, leavers, salary changes, adjustments).
  • Coordinate and submit accurate data to our external payroll providers to agreed deadlines.
  • Be the day-to-day point of contact for payroll queries with providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and help ensure a smooth monthly payroll process.
  • Provide ad-hoc HR admin support (e.g., document collation, onboarding coordination, general enquiries)
What you’ll bring
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets and sensitive information.
  • Clear communicator who can manage deadlines and follow structured processes.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and happy to pitch in where needed.
  • Prior exposure to payroll or HR is helpful but not essential if you’re quick to pick things up.
The offer
  • Hours: 21 per week (3×7hr days or 4×10:00–14:00).
  • Hybrid: In-office 1–2 days/week; otherwise work from home.
