HR Operations Manager

Our client is hiring its first-ever HR Operations Manager. This is a newly created role with significant influence and ownership—ideal for someone eager to build, streamline, and lead from the ground up.

Our client, a leading technology company, seeks a proactive and experienced HR Operations Manager to oversee HR operations and advance the people agenda. This role is suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and wants to make a tangible impact.

The role:

Reporting directly to the Head of People, you will be central to strengthening HR infrastructure and implementing best practices across the organization. You will lead core HR functions such as payroll, employee engagement, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and systems management, ensuring smooth and strategic operations.

This role offers the opportunity to influence company culture, improve employee experience, and support strategic HR initiatives.

It requires proactive problem-solving, rigorous execution, and effective process implementation. You will embed efficient processes, leverage data insights, and create engaging employee experiences.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning all HR operations, including policies, processes, pay reviews, and benefits renewals.
  • Managing payroll and reward systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Handling employee relations, ensuring fair resolution and compliance.
  • Driving employee engagement initiatives.
  • Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Advising managers on employee relations and navigating complex cases.
  • Managing HR systems and producing people metrics for decision-making.
  • Reviewing and improving HR processes for operational excellence.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment law, GDPR, and audit requirements.
  • Shaping compensation and benefits frameworks.

The person:

  • Degree educated, ideally CIPD L7 qualified (or L5 with ongoing studies).
  • Experience in HR operations, preferably in tech or fast-paced environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Experience with HR systems and reporting tools.
  • Proactive, self-starting, and excellent communicator.
  • Collaborative, discreet, and passionate about employee experience.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change.
