Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting an experienced HR Manager for a client in Derby, offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of three days per week onsite. You will lead the HR team and provide a comprehensive HR service aligned with the organisation’s strategic plan.

You will advise on employment law, manage complex ER cases, drive engagement, and lead change programmes across multiple services, partnering with stakeholders at all levels to deliver high-quality people services.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent, or proven by experience.
  • Experience in a senior HR role.
  • Experience in the public sector is beneficial.
  • Experience of managing complex ER cases including grievances, restructuring and redundancy.

Job description

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for an experienced HR Manager join our client based in Derby, this role if offered on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days a week onsite

The HR Manager will be responsible for leading the HR team, providing comprehensive HR Service which supports the delivery of the organisation's strategic plan.

The duties of the HR Manager will include
  • Act as the senior HR professional, providing expert advice on employment law, HR best practice and complex people matters.
  • Partnering with managers across the organisation to provide proactive HR advice and support on workforce issues and organisational challenges
  • Driving employee engagement initiatives, including staff surveys and the delivery of action plans that enhance workplace culture
  • Leading, developing and inspiring the HR team, ensuring high performance, continuous improvement and excellent service delivery
  • Coaching and advising clinical and operational line managers on HR policies and employment law
  • Guiding departments through restructures, redesigns, and service transformations
  • Designing and delivering specialist staff development and training courses.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of standard operating models to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant HR service delivery.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define roles, responsibilities, governance, and service standards within the operating model.
  • Document end-to-end processes, procedures, and operating frameworks to support organisational objectives.
  • Lead and manage complex organisational change and transformation programmes, ensuring the successful delivery of strategic objectives across multiple services and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement change strategies that minimise risk, maintain employee engagement, and support operational continuity
  • Support the embedding of new structures, processes, and ways of working, ensuring sustainable change and continuous improvement
The HR Manager will ideally have:
  • CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent, or qualified by experience
  • Experience of working in a senior HR role
  • Experience within a public sector organisation would be beneficial
  • Experience of managing complex ER cases including grievances, restructuring and redundancy
  • Expert knowledge of employment law, case law and best practice
  • Experience of leading and developing HR teams to deliver a High-quality people services function

The HR Manager will need to have excellent communication skills and effectively be able to communicate to stakeholders of all levels. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have an impeccable eye for detail and accuracy to ensure all workload is carried out effectively and efficiently. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet unpredictable deadlines and deal with conflicting demands, whilst working in a high-pressured environment.
