Job description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for oversight and implementation of human resources services for approximately 200 full and part-time faculty and staff. Functional responsibilities include but are not limited to personnel policies and procedures, employee relations, payroll, compensation and benefits, HRIS, training and development, unemployment and worker's compensation. The Human Resources Generalist will establish and implement Human Resources efforts that effectively communicate and support the vision, mission and priorities of the College.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Oversee functions and ensure proper compliance and reporting for all state and federal laws in areas such as employment, labor relations, ADA, sexual harassment, discrimination, Title IX and EEO. Monitors ever-changing and expanding governmental regulatory environment for compliance with the above.
  • Provide administration, oversight and coordination for a comprehensive suite of benefits including, but not limited to, health, dental, life, disability, retirement, flexible spending, and tuition remission/reimbursement program.
  • Primary point of contact and vendor relationship manager for benefits providers.
  • Manages the college disciplinary process, working closely with supervisors to ensure fairness, consistency and legal compliance.
  • Plan the employee wellness fair, Employee Appreciation Day and other campus-wide events.
  • Work with insurance brokers for benefit negotiations and benefit programs for the new plan year to ensure it aligns to college budget planning.
  • Facilitate the annual open enrollment process for employees through the HRIS system and prepare all college communications.
  • Maintain an understanding of current ideas, trends, and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility through continued study and participation in professional organizations and make recommendations for new programs and offerings.
  • Maintain and update the content of the employee handbook and maintenance of the HR intranet.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff directors, providing objective counsel and recommendations pertaining to HR related matters.
  • Coordinate the handling of disciplinary matters. Counsel managers, supervisors, and employees on policies, practices, discipline, and performance evaluation matters. Investigate grievances or complaints and prepare written reports/responses for management use and approval.
  • Handle employee relations matters including fact finding and resolution process.
  • Partner and facilitate various development training initiatives.
  • Plan Administrator for the retirement plan, manage committee requirements, make payments, submissions, updates and maintain weekly updates and files.
  • Oversee accurate payment and reporting all of the college employee benefits, in compliance with the provisions of tax laws, federal/state regulations and college policy
  • Administers workers compensation programs, collects information for first report of injury and files claims with insurance company.
  • Oversee and ensures accuracy with regard to general ledger reconciliation for benefits related accounts.
  • Ensure a positive productive onboarding process for all new hires.
  • Supervise HR Coordinator and Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
