About the Role - We are seeking a CIPD Chartered (or equivalent) HR professional to step into a business partnering role, working alongside our HR team to lead on critical people initiatives and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  1. Stakeholder Management
  2. Partner with stakeholders across a client group of around 250 employees, delivering HR solutions that drive operational excellence in the utilities sector.
  3. Provide guidance on all employee-related matters, ensuring HR practices align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships through effective communication, ensuring visibility and trust with stakeholders.
  5. Act as a critical friend and trusted advisor on HR decisions at the divisional level, helping leadership make informed decisions.
  6. Advisory & Operational HR
  7. Use a coaching approach to empower junior HR team members and managers to lead on people-related operations, enabling efficient, compliant people management.
  8. Handle employment relations confidently and ensure HR matters are addressed promptly, fairly, and consistently in line with utilities sector regulations.
  9. Provide expert advice on policies, employment law, and immigration matters, ensuring compliance across the division.
  10. Regularly review employee compensation against industry benchmarks and recommend adjustments to maintain competitiveness in the utilities sector.
  11. Strategic HR
  12. Support the implementation of the people strategy within the utilities division, driving employee engagement, talent development, and succession planning.
  13. Lead the division’s diversity and wellbeing initiatives, aligning them with broader corporate responsibility and sustainability efforts.
  14. Compliance
  15. Ensure full compliance with Data Protection and GDPR regulations, safeguarding employee information in accordance with best practices.
  16. Address all compliance reporting matters efficiently, ensuring regulatory standards are met.
  17. Other
  18. Provide HR support across the team during periods of leave or peaks in workload.
  19. Assist with workshops to upskill the HR team and drive strategic HR initiatives across the utilities division.

Required Skills

  1. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships within the utilities sector.
  2. Strong communication and presentation skills, enabling effective influence at all levels.
  3. In-depth knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and operational best practices in a regulated environment.
  4. A strategic mindset and a track record of delivering high-impact HR initiatives in complex, fast-moving environments.
  5. A strong understanding of analytics and the ability to translate data into meaningful outcomes.
  6. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  7. Experience working with an ATS, ideally on Workday.

Preferred Skills

  1. Commercial acumen and experience in a utilities, engineering, or consultancy environment.
  2. Experience leading initiatives related to EDI (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), STEM engagement, and employee engagement programs.
  3. Familiarity with Power BI and/or SAP (SuccessFactors).
  4. Knowledge of Union HR activities and relevant legislation is an advantage.
