Job description

We are recruiting a Human Resources Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37
Contract Type: Full Time / Fixed Term for 2 years
Location: Penallta House / Home Working

Team: Human Resources

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £27,711 - £30,060 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Human Resources are looking to recruit a full-time HR Assistant to work within People Services. The post is fixed term for 2 years.

The successful candidate will support the HR service delivery to employees across the whole authority by providing a range of administrative HR tasks and offering advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role as the “front line” of HR, fielding enquiries to the HR function, using your initiative to resolve issues or escalating if necessary, to HR colleagues.

Key tasks of the role will include general administration, recruitment and selection, management information, data entry on the council’s HR/Payroll system (iTrent), minute taking at meetings, contributing to HR Project work and providing accurate and timely advice on matters such as pay and conditions of service.

Ideally you will have experience of working within a HR environment. Candidates will need to have excellent IT skills using a variety of packages and should have experience of working in a busy customer focused environment.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service and have the skill to organise and prioritise your own workload to ensure deadlines are met. Attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality always is paramount.

You must have a confident, tactful, and sympathetic approach and be able to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.

For the role, we ask that you have:

A level 2 qualification/s on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example, 5 GCSEs Grades A*-C, Level 2 NVQ.
Very good customer service skills - making every effort to meet the needs and exceed expectations of customers (both internal and external).
The ability to travel across the County Borough and beyond.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
