Job description

Ready to take the next step in your HR career?

If you’re an experienced HR Assistant, HR Coordinator or Junior HR Advisor who’s ready to move into a fully-fledged HR Advisor role, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

We’re looking for someone who already has a solid grounding in HR and has had exposure to employee relations, but who is now ready to broaden their experience, build their confidence and take greater ownership of HR matters.

This isn’t about having years of experience. It’s about having the right foundations, the right attitude and the ambition to develop.

What will you be doing?

You’ll become a trusted HR contact for managers and colleagues across the business, providing practical, people-focused advice and helping managers navigate a range of HR matters.

Your role will include:

Employee Relations

  • Support managers with a range of employee relations matters, including performance, conduct and other people issues.
  • Coach and guide managers through difficult conversations, helping them build their own confidence rather than simply taking issues away from them.
  • Prepare meeting documentation, notes and outcome letters in line with policy and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate records of ER cases and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Know when to seek advice and elevate matters involving greater complexity, risk or seniority.
  • Take part in ER case reviews and learning sessions to continuously develop your knowledge and capability.

Manager & Stakeholder Support

  • Build strong, credible relationships with managers and key stakeholders.
  • Become a reliable and approachable point of contact for day-to-day HR advice.
  • Encourage managers to engage with HR early, helping to resolve issues before they become more complex.
  • Support managers to understand their responsibilities around performance, conduct, consultation and other people matters.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and provide proactive HR support where appropriate.

Policy, Process & Best Practice

  • Provide guidance on HR policies, processes and employment law principles.
  • Help ensure HR processes are applied consistently and fairly.
  • Support annual policy reviews and contribute to the development of new policies where required.
  • Help improve HR templates, guidance and manager toolkits.
  • Get involved in a variety of HR projects, giving you exposure beyond day-to-day advisory work.

Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Support the production of HR and ER reports and people metrics.
  • Use HR systems and data to identify trends and support conversations with managers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Help identify data gaps, inaccuracies and recurring people issues.
  • Support the effective use of HR dashboards and reporting.

Be part of the team:

  • Work closely with the senior HR team and learn from experienced HR professionals.
  • Share ideas, knowledge and best practice with colleagues.
  • Support more junior members of the team as your own confidence develops.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Shared Services to ensure a seamless employee experience.

What are we looking for?

We’re not looking for someone who has seen it all.

We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn, develop and step up.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in an HR Assistant, experienced HR Coordinator or Junior HR Advisor position.
  • Practical exposure to employee relations cases and an understanding of how they should be managed.
  • A good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • The confidence and interpersonal skills to build relationships with managers and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and a genuine desire to develop your HR career.
  • CIPD Level 3, ideally with a desire to progress towards or already working towards Level 5.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to move beyond HR administration and coordination and into a genuine advisory career path.

You'll gain exposure to employee relations, manager coaching, employment law, stakeholder management, HR projects, data and wider HR activity — while working alongside an experienced HR team that can support you as you develop.

If you're currently thinking “I'm ready for more, but I need someone to give me the opportunity”, we'd love to hear from you.

And there's plenty more...

Alongside working for one of the UK’s Best Big Companies to Work For, you'll have access to:

  • 26 days' holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Flexible and hybrid working
  • Investment in your learning and development
  • Colleague health and wellbeing programme
  • Free onsite gym and discounted gym membership
  • Rooftop bar and social area
  • Meritocracy incentive trips — 50 colleagues have already been to Jamacia this year!
  • Free confidential mental health advice and counselling
  • Access to free wellbeing apps
  • Free parking

Ready to take the step?

If you've built a strong HR foundation and are now looking for the opportunity to step up, gain genuine advisory experience and continue developing your career, this could be the role for you.
