Job description

Human Resources Advisor – ER Fixed Term Contract 6 months - Cammell Laird

Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for Employee Relations? Do you have a strong track record of managing complex ER cases and handling high workloads? If you're immediately available and looking for a 6-month contract, this might be the role for you.

We are seeking an Employee Relations (ER) HR Professional to join our newly formed team, which is experiencing a period of high demand. You will need to hit the ground running and take ownership of a backlog of ER cases.

This is a temporary position (6 months), and we need someone to start immediately!

Who are we?

Known across the globe at our Birkenhead facility, on the banks of the River Mersey, we expand across 130 acres, including four dry docks, a large modular construction hall, and extensive covered workshops.

We have played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years, repairing, maintaining, and building ships and other vessels.

What will you do?
  • Manage and resolve a backlog of ER cases, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Provide advice to managers on handling disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes.
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues while maintaining compliance with UK employment law.
  • Support the HR team in closing legally compliant cases, ensuring the business and employees are informed, advised, and up-to-date.
What are we looking for?
  • HR generalist background, fully conversant with all aspects of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience working closely with Trade Unions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business and a motivation to improve working practices.
  • A self-starter, able to use own initiative, work with minimal supervision, and prioritize tasks within timescales.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is preferred due to the size of the facility.

If you're ready to take on this challenge and assist us during this busy period, we'd love to hear from you!

Note: Due to the nature of our work, some roles at Cammell Laird are subject to security control restrictions, which may limit your eligibility based on nationality, previous nationalities, or place of birth.

Additionally, you must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before employment, including a basic DBS check.
