Job summary

AMETEK Nu Instruments in Wrexham seeks an HR Generalist to provide professional HR support across the employee lifecycle. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, learning and development, HR administration, performance and attendance management, and wellbeing initiatives.

Works within AMETEK's Nu Instruments unit, a global mass spectrometry leader, to ensure policy compliance, accurate records, and timely HR reporting.

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification or working towards one.
  • Experience in a Human Resources or People Services environment.
  • Sound knowledge of HR processes and employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting employee relations casework.
  • Experience using HR and payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and talent management practices.

Job description

The Human Resources Generalist provides professional HR support across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring HR policies, procedures, and practices are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation and organizational objectives. This role supports recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, HR administration, and employee wellbeing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, screening applications, arranging interviews, and preparing offer documentation.
  • Manage pre-employment checks, references, right-to-work verification, and onboarding processes.
  • Support hiring managers throughout recruitment campaigns and help deliver a positive candidate experience.
  • Deliver and coordinate induction programs for new employees.
Employee Relations
  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies and procedures.
  • Support employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, and performance matters.
  • Assist with investigations, note-taking, and the preparation of HR documentation.
  • Promote positive employee relations and support conflict resolution where appropriate.
HR Administration
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems.
  • Produce contracts of employment, variation letters, and other HR correspondence.
  • Monitor probationary periods and ensure reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare HR reports and management information as required.
Learning and Development
  • Support the identification of learning and development needs across the organization.
  • Assist with the delivery of employee development programs.
  • Evaluate learning initiatives and support continuous improvement activities.
Performance and Attendance Management
  • Support managers with performance review processes and objective setting.
  • Monitor attendance levels and assist with absence management procedures.
  • Provide guidance on policies relating to sickness absence, flexible working, and employee wellbeing.
Policy and Compliance
  • Ensure HR practices comply with employment legislation, organizational policies, and recognized best practice.
  • Contribute to the review and development of HR policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Support audits and compliance activities relating to HR records and processes.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification or currently working towards one.
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources or People Services environment.
  • Sound knowledge of HR processes and employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting employee relations casework.
  • Experience using HR and payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and talent management practices.
