Job description

Type: Full-time ·

Location: London, UK · On-site

Compensation: £50,000–£65,000/year, in accordance with experience ·

The Role

We're building a foundation model of the brain and behaviour across species, and the data that powers it is produced in-house by a small, high-trust team. This role sits at the centre of that effort. As a Human Data Collection Associate, you run data collection sessions on assigned rigs, preparing and calibrating the setup, running the session, and making sure the data you hand off is clean and complete.

It is a hands-on role with real ownership. You'll report to the Human Data Collection Lead and work alongside the Hardware Systems team who build and maintain the rigs. You'll also take part in sessions as a contributor of your own data, so comfort being recorded during collection is part of the role.

Responsibilities

Running data collection

  • Prepare, calibrate, and run recording sessions from start to finish, following defined protocols precisely
  • Fit sensors, verify signal quality in real time, and resolve issues before they affect a session
  • Contribute your own data as a session participant where the protocol calls for it

Data quality and integrity

  • Own the quality bar for everything you collect. Review, label, and validate recordings so that only clean, well-documented data moves downstream
  • Keep accurate consent, provenance, and session-metadata records for every dataset, following the standards the Lead sets and our obligations under UK GDPR
  • Identify and document anomalies, and help refine protocols as we learn what works

Operations and equipment

  • Keep your recording setup maintained, charged, and ready, and track its condition over time
  • Support session scheduling and keep collection running smoothly day to day
  • Help onboard and coordinate short-term participants as we scale collection
Requirements

Core (essential)

  • Meticulous attention to detail and real care for data quality
  • Able to follow structured, repeatable protocols precisely and consistently
  • Confident with hands-on technical setups and quick to troubleshoot when something is not working
  • Reliable and organised, able to own a process from end to end with minimal oversight
  • Comfortable taking part in data collection sessions as a contributor, including being recorded
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a knack for putting participants at ease
  • Right to work in the UK

Valued

  • Experience in a research, lab, clinical, or data collection setting
  • Familiarity with physiological or behavioural recording equipment
  • Exposure to biosignal or time-series data, and basic comfort with data tools such as spreadsheets or light scripting
  • Genuine interest in neuroscience, AI, or the science of human and animal behaviour
  • Experience maintaining quality standards and documentation in a high-rigour environment
