Job description

Job Title: HSQE Manager

• Location: Bedford
• Salary : 47500 (Perm)
• Hours: 8am - 4:30pm (Monday to Friday)

Overall Purpose:

Develop and Maintain Business Management System; embedding and leading best practice to establish industry leading governance over Product fulfilment, Health & Safety and Environmental practices; ensuring all accreditations are maintained and achieved; ISO9001, ISO14001, ATEX/IECEx, (supported by Engineering & Flame Proof Officer) ISO(phone number removed), Achilles Verify B2 and Safe contractor scheme.

Deliver Supplier & Product Quality Assurance, including QA governance over product service standards (requiring travel between sites and suppliers)

Provide regulatory and ISO Certified Site Health & Safety Assurance

Provide regulatory and ISO Certified Environmental business practices and processes.

Lead Product Quality related cost down initiatives and oversight of quality assured offshore sourcing

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that processes and the Business Management System (BMS) is established, implemented, embedded, audited and accreditations maintained.
• Ensure that the relevant company's Achilles Verify rating is maintained.
• Determine the strategic direction (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the Sites HSQE management programme and systems.
• Manage and coordinate systems to ensure that the products or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working conditions of the company are safe for all employees.
• Liaise with the external assessment body on all matters related to the accreditation process.
• Advise line management and assist with the implementation of new or existing HSQE-related legislation, rules, and Company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of Company and contractors' sites.
• Provide guidance and advice to the business on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards using guidance and observation visits.
• Proactively working with cross-functional teams and heads of department to ensure that HSQE is considered throughout the full business lifecycle and that relevant control measures are implemented and processes updated.
• Work with site management highlighting and addressing instances of poor practice and/or risk producing/updating Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, PUWER, DSEAR, SSOW etc. as required.
• Investigate incidents and produce detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement.
• Manage Health & Safety Routine Inspections. (Fire, Lighting, LEV, LOLER, PAT, Racking, etc)
• Maintain in house training records with internal managers
• Complete external pre-qualification questionnaires and HSQE induction for new employees.
• Monitor and report on the energy usage and waste produced, Create Quality and Safety Alerts

Person Specification - Skills & Knowledge required:

• Able to communicate well at all levels.
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent
• CQI Certificate in Quality Management or equivalent
• Internal Auditor
• Demonstrate a passion for Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
• Proficient with MS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
