Job Title: HSEQ Manager (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) Permanent
Location: Ideally based within 1 hour of Rugby, Warwickshire
Industry Sector: Groundworks & Fencing (Construction)
Company: Well-established, family-owned construction business



Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive HSEQ Manager to oversee Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality compliance across our portfolio of groundworks and fencing projects nationwide. You will be responsible for managing approximately 18 live projects and will play a key role in upholding a strong safety culture, enhancing compliance, and supporting operational growth.



Key Responsibilities:

Policy & Documentation:

  • Create, review, and maintain company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Develop and update project-specific documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Lift Plans, and Safe Systems of Work.

  • Manage document control systems, ensuring all forms are logged, numbered, and stored appropriately (SharePoint/Excel trackers).

Compliance & Accreditations:

  • Oversee submission and maintenance of accreditations and compliance documentation.

  • Monitor and ensure subcontractor compliance with required training and certifications.

Incident & Observation Management:

  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.

  • Share lessons learned and improvements across all projects.

  • Record and monitor both positive and negative safety observations.

Site Visits & Reporting:

  • Conduct regular nationwide site visits to audit compliance and support site teams.

  • Generate detailed HSEQ reports for both internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Provide practical support and recommendations to improve site performance.

Training & Communication:

  • Develop and deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings.

  • Communicate changes in procedures or key HSEQ updates to all staff and contractors.

  • Identify and address training needs for internal teams and subcontractors.

Client & Internal Liaison:

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients on HSEQ matters.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams and senior management to ensure HSEQ standards are upheld.



Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar HSEQ Manager role within the construction industry, ideally in groundworks and/or fencing.

  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation and best practices.

  • Skilled in documentation, reporting, and incident investigation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility for nationwide travel.

  • Comfortable working with SharePoint, Excel, and digital document systems.



Desirable:

  • Experience with CHAS, SMAS, or ISO 9001/14001/45001 compliance processes.

Salary: 50,000 annual salary
