Be the driving force behind a culture where safety isn’t just a priority — it’s who we are.

We are seeking a dynamic, visionary HSEQ Director to join our UK executive leadership team. This is more than a compliance role; it’s an opportunity to shape the future of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) across the Tarmac business — embedding a culture where everyone goes home safe, every day.

Working in close partnership with our CRH international colleagues, you will play a pivotal role in championing and implementing global safety initiatives, including the CRH Life Saving Rules, and aligning UK operations with best-in-class international standards.

What You’ll Do

Lead the strategic direction of HSEQ across the UK, aligning local operations with CRH’s global frameworks and evolving industry standards.

Drive cultural transformation by embedding a "Work Safe, Home Safe" ethos across all sites — making safety a shared value, not just a rulebook.

Monitor and report on HSEQ performance using data-led insights and KPIs to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

Act as a senior voice for safety within the executive team, influencing operational strategy and investment through a safety-first lens.

Champion behavioural safety and partner with HR to roll out engagement programmes that inspire ownership and accountability at every level.

Spearhead investigations and learning from incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis leads to meaningful action and innovation.

Stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies in safety, environmental performance, and quality — driving proactive solutions that reduce risk and improve outcomes.

Represent the business in regulatory and legal matters relating to HSEQ, offering expert leadership and safeguarding reputation.

What We’re Looking For

A proven HSEQ leader with a strong track record of delivering safety excellence in complex, multi-site construction or manufacturing environments.

In-depth knowledge of UK HSEQ legislation, industry standards (ISO , , ), and regulatory frameworks.

Visionary leadership with the credibility and gravitas to influence change from the boardroom to the frontline.

A strategic thinker who can lead transformation, communicate with clarity, and bring people with them on the journey.

A skilled investigator and problem solver, with a forensic eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to zero harm.

Professional qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma and Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) are highly desirable.

Why Join Us?

This is a rare opportunity to join a market leader with the scale, ambition, and support to deliver real change. You’ll be part of a collaborative executive team and an international network committed to building a safer, more sustainable future.

If you’re ready to make a lasting impact and lead one of the most critical functions in our business, we want to hear from you.
