Job description

The McDermott group is seeking an HSEQ Advisor based in Perth, Scotland, to ensure high standards in health, safety, environmental protection, and quality management.

Overview of the Role

  • HSEQ Officer
  • Holidays: 30 days, with 1 additional day per year of service (max 5 days), plus holiday buy-back scheme of 5 days

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Liaise with HSEQ auditors to acquire and maintain company accreditations
  • Create, monitor, and maintain procedures within the Quality Management System
  • Coach and advise employees and management on HSEQ matters to ensure legal compliance
  • Plan and perform audits, documenting successes and areas for improvement
  • Provide training on HSEQ topics to internal staff
  • Ensure processes deliver their intended outputs and report on performance and improvements
  • Promote customer focus and maintain the integrity of the HSEQ management system
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safe operational procedures
  • Perform regular site inspections for compliance
  • Ensure safety and legislative compliance in working practices
  • Develop health and safety strategies and policies
  • Lead training sessions on QHSE matters
  • Maintain records, produce reports, and manage incident documentation
  • Stay updated on legislation and industry developments
  • Attend relevant seminars and read professional journals
  • Produce management reports and communications
  • Ensure safe installation of equipment and disposal of hazardous substances (COSHH)
  • Advise on fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational diseases
  • Manage emergency procedures, signage, PPE, and COSHH controls
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH General or equivalent
  • Display passion and robust knowledge in HSEQ subjects
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, and DSE
  • Auditor training/experience preferred
  • Hands-on approach to implementing processes and change
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel
  • Must have full rights to work in the UK (IDLR or Settled Status)
