A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE officer to join a leading manufacturing company specializing in providing electrical solutions to various industries.
Responsibilities:
- Help drive a positive culture of Health, Safety, and Environment across the site.
- Proactively identify, assess, and evaluate current and future regulations related to health, safety, and environment.
- Work towards daily management and compliance for ISO45001 and ISO14001.
- Facilitate assessments from certification bodies, customers, and other interested parties.
- Develop and maintain the HSE Committee and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance effectiveness and evaluate trends.
- Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards, adhering to ISO14001.
- Produce monthly reports, newsletters, and bulletins where required.
- Challenge unsafe practices and behaviors across departments.
- Evaluate environmental risks affecting the company's operations and assist in preparing improvement plans to ensure compliance.
- Ensure the business operates in compliance with legislation, standards, and guidance for Health and Safety, staying updated with legislative requirements.
- Assist in maintaining accreditations by ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Ensure all HSE policies and procedures are in place and communicated to new staff.
- Promote a safety-first culture on-site by providing guidance, advice, and understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, identify hazards, and work cross-functionally.
- Plan and conduct audits following legislation and corporate procedures.
- Assist with investigating and reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses, maintaining records of corrective actions.
- Carry out induction training for new staff and contractors.
- Develop and deliver internal training, including toolbox talks and relevant topics.
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
- Demonstrable work experience at a similar level in HSE is essential.
- Experience working in an engineering/manufacturing environment is essential.
- NEBOSH qualification is essential.
- Experience in auditing and ISO 45001, 14001 is highly advantageous.
- Industry knowledge in the Electrical Power Sector or manufacturing is preferable.
- Experience dealing with RAMS is essential.
- Experience conducting inspections and audits.
- Strong prioritization skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Continuous improvement capabilities.
- Good interpersonal skills with a 'can-do' attitude.
- Strong communication skills across all levels, including internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Attention to detail and due diligence.
