Main purpose of the job

This position is responsible for providing environmental, health and safety guidance. This position is also responsible for collaboration with plant EHS Team and Operational Management to ensure compliance. Implement good manufacturing and continuous improvement practices and ensure EHS is a value-added part of the overall business.

Main missions and results
  1. Maintain cost against area of responsibility.
  2. Collaborative approach engaging with relevant stakeholders in the business.
  3. Carry out inspections of working conditions and compliance with health and safety at work rules and regulations.
  4. Keep up to date with the employer about identified occupational hazards, along with proposals to remove these threats.
  5. Prepare and present to employer periodic analyses of health and safety at work, including proposals for technical and organisational measures aimed at preventing risks to workers' life and health, and improving working conditions.
  6. Participate in the development of plans for modernisation and development of the workplace and propose technical and organisational solutions to improve health and safety.
  7. Participate in the commissioning of new or reconstructed buildings, ensuring work conditions and safety are maintained.
  8. Submit applications regarding health and safety requirements in production processes.
  9. Present applications for ergonomic requirements at workplaces.
  10. Develop company collective labour agreements, internal ordinances, regulations, and instructions on health and safety at work.
  11. Provide detailed instructions on occupational health and safety at individual workplaces.
  12. Participate in investigations of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, and implement corrective actions.
  13. Maintain records and store HSES documents as required.
  14. Advise on regulations and principles of health and safety at work.
  15. Manage risk assessment programs.
  16. Advise on work organization and methods at hazardous workplaces, and select appropriate protective measures.
  17. Focus on cultural safety and integrate safety practices at all levels.
  18. Coordinate training in occupational health and safety.
  19. Participate in safety consultations and committees, including accident prevention and occupational disease control.
  20. Develop initiatives to promote occupational health and safety and ergonomics.
  21. Support and advise departments in occupational health and safety matters.
  22. Support all departments, coaching and driving the business in the right direction.

This role is part of a wider dynamic collaborative team.

Preferred skills and experience
  • Proven experience in the automotive industry, with at least 3 years as a quality and/or EHS engineer, or significant experience in production as an EHS Engineer or Specialist.
  • Degree in chemistry, machinery, mechanics, environment, or health & safety; or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 & ISO45001 standards, applicable EHS legislation, and customer requirements. Knowledge of IATF16949.
  • Internal auditor training.
  • Proficiency in local language; English preferred.
  • PC literacy.
  • Cultural safety delivery.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Empathic and active listener.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks across different teams simultaneously.
