Job description

Health, Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Manager

Lead safety. Drive improvement. Make a real impact.

Do you have a manufacturing background (ideally chemical)?

Do you want to work for a historical business with regular company events and family atmosphere?

What's in it for you…
  • £50-60,000
  • £1,200 annual bonus
  • Age related pension up to 10/7%
  • Death in Service benefit
  • Medicash
  • Investment in qualifications and career development (diploma etc)

We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Manager to take a leading role in protecting our people, our environment and our business.

This is more than a compliance role. You'll be a visible and influential leader, working with managers, employees, contractors and external stakeholders to build a strong safety culture while enabling the business to operate efficiently and responsibly.

What you'll do
  • Lead and develop the company's HSE strategy, policies and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead audits, inspections, incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Drive corrective actions, continuous improvement and behavioural safety.
  • Provide practical HSE advice, coaching and training across the business.
  • Manage accident, incident and near-miss reporting, including RIDDOR requirements.
  • Oversee hazardous substances, CoSHH, contractor controls and regulatory records.
  • Develop KPIs, manage the HSE budget and identify opportunities to improve performance.
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure safety, quality and operational excellence go hand in hand.
What we're looking for

You’ll be a credible, pragmatic HSE professional who can influence rather than simply enforce. You’ll have the confidence to challenge unsafe practices, the judgement to find practical solutions and the resilience to maintain high standards under pressure.

You’ll ideally have:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years’ manufacturing experience, ideally within chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong experience in behavioural safety, investigations, root-cause analysis and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with quality/document management systems.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Process Safety Management and change-management experience would be advantageous.
Why this role matters

You’ll have the opportunity to shape how safety is delivered across the organisation-not just by ensuring compliance, but by creating a culture where people take ownership, risks are actively managed and continuous improvement is part of how we work.

If you’re ready to make safety a business strength, we’d love to hear from you.
