Job description

HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental Manager)

Scantec Recruitment is working with a leading FMCG manufacturing business in Manchester to assist in their search for a Site HSE Manager. This role offers growth and long-term career development with exposure to multiple ongoing HSE projects.

As the HSE Manager, you'll be part of the Senior Leadership Team, focusing on enhancing and fostering a strong HSE culture. Your role will involve ensuring the highest standards of HSE management by providing expert advice throughout site operations, managing all HSE requirements, and maintaining compliance with current statutory and legislative regulations.

Experience in FMCG/Food is not essential; however, experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Construction is preferred.

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am–5pm

Core Responsibilities of the HSE Manager:

  • Deliver best-in-class Health, Safety, and Environmental solutions across the site.
  • Build and embed a safety culture to ensure the group is a safe place to work and visit.
  • Plan, support the development of, and implement robust HSE practices across the site.
  • Set SMART health, safety, and environmental objectives with the Senior Leadership Team for their respective teams.
  • Ensure risk assessments and impact assessments are in place, maintain a site HSE risk register, and review it regularly to manage risks.
  • Influence and challenge stakeholders effectively to educate and advance the HSE agenda.

Required Skills and Experience:

We are seeking a confident and assertive candidate with previous senior-level Safety, Health, and Environmental experience within Manufacturing, with a preference for Food manufacturing. Experience in developing a HSE culture is essential.

Qualifications include NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety). An IEMA Foundation certificate or other recognized Environmental qualification is advantageous.
