Job summary

Prysmian is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to drive Health, Safety and Environmental excellence at our Eastleigh site. You will act as SME and advisor, ensuring compliance with HSE standards and fostering a strong safety culture across operations.

You will lead risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement while collaborating with leadership and employees to embed safety in everyday decisions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • HSE Internal Auditor certification and experience managing audits and compliance programs.
  • Proven experience in HSE management within manufacturing/industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management and incident investigation.
  • Experience leading HSE teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance safety and operational priorities with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve HSE Management Systems in line with ISO 45001/ISO 14001.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and company HSE requirements.
  • Lead risk assessments and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Monitor HSE performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Influence leaders to integrate safety into daily decision-making.
  • Promote employee engagement, hazard reporting, stop-work authority, and a proactive safety culture.
  • Represent the site during audits, inspections and external interactions.
  • Lead and develop the site HSE team and partner with leaders and stakeholders.
  • Support deployment of Group HSE strategy and cross-site projects.

Your Role

As an HSE Manager , you will play a critical role in driving Health, Safety, and Environmental excellence across the site. Acting as both a subject matter expert and trusted advisor, you will ensure compliance with HSE standards, promote continuous improvement, and support leaders in building a strong and sustainable safety culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving HSE Management Systems in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company HSE requirements.
  • Leading risk assessments and implementing preventive and corrective actions to reduce workplace risks.
  • Monitoring HSE performance through leading and lagging indicators and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Managing incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Influencing and supporting leadership teams to integrate safety into everyday decision-making.
  • Promoting employee engagement, hazard reporting, stop-work authority, and a proactive safety culture.
  • Representing the site during audits, inspections, and interactions with external authorities.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the site HSE team while partnering closely with operational leaders, employee representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the deployment of Group HSE strategy and participating in local and cross-site HSE projects.
Your Experience

To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced HSE professional with a strong technical background and a passion for creating safe, compliant, and high-performing workplaces.

You will bring:

  • A degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • A recognized Health & Safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • HSE Internal Auditor certification and experience managing audits and compliance programs.
  • Proven experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk management, incident investigation methodologies, and management systems standards.
  • Experience leading HSE teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to challenge constructively, influence leadership decisions, and effectively balance safety and operational priorities.
  • Strong planning and organizational capabilities, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Fluent English, with the ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Location details

This role is based in our offices near the Eastleigh town centre. The address is Prysmian Cables & Systems Limited, Chickenhall Lane, Eastleigh, SO50 6YU. There are good transport links to Eastleigh and the site is approximately 15 minutes walk from the railway station. We are able to offer free car parking next to our offices.
