Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for HSE Manager on a Permanent Basis, based in East Midlands.

Role Summary

The HSE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental standards across all project activities, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, industry regulations, and client requirements. The role requires a proactive leader with hands-on experience in managing safety within grid-related construction environments, ensuring zero harm to people and minimal impact on the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the company's HSE strategy across construction and grid-related projects.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, ISO standards, and other statutory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Develop site-specific HSE plans, method statements, and safe systems of work.
• Deliver HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks to staff and subcontractors.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Drive a positive safety culture and continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
• Monitor grid project activities, ensuring high-risk operations (e.g., live electrical work, substation builds, grid connections) are carried out safely and compliantly.

Requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) - essential.
• Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH or working towards) - desirable.
• Strong track record in HSE management within construction and grid/energy infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of UK HSE legislation, CDM 2015, and relevant electrical safety standards.
• Experience with HV/LV grid connections, substations, or renewable energy projects preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
