Role Overview

This role requires a Full UK driving licence with regular travel to branches in and around Yorkshire.

What will you do?

This role provides front line HSE support, advice, and expert guidance to Branch Managers and Regional Directors. You will complete Group and statutory Health and Safety reporting requirements, conduct LTI investigations and case management, and deliver the 2nd line of defence HSE audit programme.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Undertake HSE Branch Reviews (2nd line of Defence Audits) in line with business risk profile.
  2. Support Branch Managers in resolving HSE-related queries and problems.
  3. Deliver HSE-related training according to the business HSE plan or as identified by specific training needs.
  4. Manage the Lost Time Incident verification and investigation process, supporting line managers and ensuring the correct application of Just Culture principles.
  5. Collaborate with HR to support line managers with the Return to Work process for colleagues off work due to a lost time incident, ensuring robust plans are in place for quick recovery.
  6. Complete all regional RIDDOR reporting requirements.
  7. Review HSE data streams such as near misses and self-assessment returns to generate insights that help reduce risks and support managers in resolving significant or near-miss incidents.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with Branch Managers and colleagues involved in HSE and driver forums to facilitate constructive feedback and input.

You should have an in-depth understanding of UK H & S legislation and a pragmatic approach to risk reduction.

We are particularly interested in candidates holding a minimum of a NEBOSH General Certificate and at least 18 months post-qualification experience in a medium to high-risk environment.

You will have excellent communication and influencing skills, comfortable engaging across all levels of the business and capable of gaining buy-in for safety initiatives and change.
