Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking an HSE Advisor to join the Stanlow site on a permanent staff basis. The role focuses on providing HSE support, CDM guidance, and driving safety improvements across operations.

Responsibilities include incident investigations, audit activities, emergency planning, and delivering safety inductions and coaching to personnel. NEBOSH General Certificate holders and IOSH members are preferred, with a track record in industrial services.

Qualifications

  • Auditing and inspection of HSE processes and effectiveness.
  • Incident management and investigation to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Solid knowledge of HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with CDM Regulations and construction project health and safety.
  • Familiarity with management system standards (OHSAS/ISO 45001).
  • Experience in industrial services sectors (2+ years).
  • Ability to plan improvements and drive safety initiatives.
  • Coaching and training skills to mentor on safety practices.
  • Member of IOSH or equivalent safety professional body.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HSE support to B-UK sites ensuring contractual HSE requirements are implemented.
  • Assist in preparation of contractual HSE documentation.
  • Advise on CDM roles and requirements for construction projects.
  • Support incident investigations and record findings in the management system.
  • Follow up on corrective actions from incidents, audits and inspections.
  • Promote proactive safety tools and conduct on-site safety mentoring.

Bilfinger UK are looking for an HSE Advisor to join us at Stanlow on a permanent staff basis.

Key activities will include but not limited to;
  • Provide HSE support to specific B-UK operational site(s) ensuring that contractual HSE requirements and associated HSE Plans are effectively communicated and implemented, ensuring that contract and business HSE objectives are met
  • Assist & Support preparation of required contractual HSE Documentation
  • Provide support and guidance to those who act in CDM specific roles of Client, Principal Designer, Designer, Principal Contractor and Contractor as they affect construction projects undertaken by the organisation to ensure compliance with CDM 2015.
  • Support on-site incident investigations to ensure a root cause and preventative / corrective actions are identified and that all information is suitably collated within the Company Incident Management System – ‘ACTIVE’
  • Support effective follow up and close out of all corrective actions as a result of incidents, audits, inspections and observations.
  • Promote the use of B-UK proactive safety tools, such as PASTA, Safe Cards and mentor in the use of as required
  • Conduct audits and inspections of various work processes as required
Routine Duties
  • Stop any operational process where unsafe working practices are being carried out and advise personnel of the appropriate action
  • Report on any deficiencies or urgent matters relating to HSE matters or potential breaches in legislation
  • Identify and monitor issues, create new ideas and keep abreast of innovations in the industry to enable improvements to the products and services to be communicated to the Operational and HSE Managements teams for implementation
  • Deliver exceptional health, safety and environmental performance
  • Participate, review and assist with the development of Risk Assessments
  • Ensure all hazardous substances used by B-UK are subject to a COSHH risk assessment and that the Company ‘Sypol’ system is maintained, understood and implemented
  • Support and participate in emergency response planning and training exercises
  • Being visible onsite and completing regular HSE inspections whilst engaging in safety conversations with the onsite personnel
  • Deliver HSE mentoring / coaching as and when required
  • Identify problems / issues with PPE quality or use and ensuring this is fed back to the HSE Manager / Procurement Department for action
  • Attend on-site HSE Meetings
  • Ensure leading / lagging information is collated and reported to allow for KPI / Performance reports to be generated
  • Assist with D&A testing processes as required
  • Deliver Company HSE Induction to new starters and refresher training to existing personnel where appropriate
  • Ensure B-UK Policies are adhered to and reporting non-compliance to the onsite Management Team
  • Report areas of concern or potential opportunities for improvement to the HSE Director / HSE Manager
  • Prepare TBT briefings for onsite personnel as directed by the Operational and HSE Management Team
  • Provide guidance and advice on matters relating to HSE to onsite personnel
  • Assist in developing, promoting and monitoring compliance with HSE performance indicators
