Job summary

Spirit Energy is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor Onshore to support the Morecambe Hub assets at Barrow-in-Furness. You will promote a proactive safety culture, conduct risk assessments and guide regulatory compliance across operations.

You will lead investigations, training and audits, ensuring the safety Case/COMAH requirements are met and that contractor activities align with HSE expectations. The role combines site-based work with a structured hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record in developing and executing pragmatic solutions and influencing others to move towards consensus.
  • Previous experience of working in an HSE and Technical role / team.
  • Good knowledge of risk management, compliance and emergency response routines and requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experienced communicator with internal/external groups, including regulator and auditing bodies.
  • NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) or Diploma (preferred).
  • Offshore BOSIET and Medical.
  • Professional membership of relevant institute or working towards it (e.g. IOSH).
  • Experience in event management and investigation training such as Kelvin TopSet.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model for Spirit Energy’s Life Saving and HSE Expectations, promoting a proactive HSE culture.
  • Provide support to the Morecambe Hub assets by way of HSE training; accident/incident investigation; audits and advice on HSE best practice.
  • Monitor and report HSE performance across operations and drive improvements.
  • Deliver actions identified within the HSE improvement plans.
  • Maintain a positive safety culture across operational assets and use behavioural modification tools.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and arrange exercises to test them.
  • Prepare for regulator interventions and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure Safety Case/COMAH requirements are maintained and align practices accordingly.
  • Review work packs for content and suitability before work commences.
  • Communicate contract expectations to third parties and engage during execution.
  • Lead investigations using Kelvin TopSet techniques.
  • Perform other duties as required.

THE OPPORTUNITY – HSE ADVISOR ONSHORE

The HSE Advisor Onshore provides direct, sustainable and reliable HSE support, guidance and appropriate challenge to operations in support of the Morecambe Hub assets.

Duration: 2-year contract

Contract Type: PAYE

Day Rate: TBC - Please note that there is no travel and accommodation allowance provided.

Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference.

In role, you will be required to:

  • Act as a role model for Spirit Energy’s Life Saving and House Rules and HSE Expectations, promoting a proactive and generative HSE culture through visible HSE leadership.
  • Provide support to the Morecambe Hub assets by way of provision of HSE training; accident/incident investigation; system audits and the provision of advice on HSE best practice.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of HSE performance across operations, seeking to identify trends in performance and driving improvements.
  • Take responsibility for delivering actions identified within the HSE improvement plans.
  • Assist with the maintenance of a positive safety culture across the operational assets and the maintenance of behavioural modification tools in use across the Field.
  • Manage and assists in the maintenance of emergency response plans for the operational assets. Arranges exercises to test the veracity of those plans.
  • Support the preparation of regulator interventions and audits to ensure regulatory compliance, contributing as necessary to any required actions arising.
  • Ensure that requirements of Safety Case and/or COMAH Report are maintained within operations and any proposed modifications or changes to operational practices are compared to Safety Case and/or COMAH Report before implementation.
  • Review work packs for content and suitability before work commences.
  • Ensure supply chain and contract management expectations are communicated and understood by relevant third parties and stakeholders. Actively monitoring and engagement during contract execution.
  • Act as a Lead investigator using Kelvin TopSet investigation techniques to support business requirements.
  • Any other associated duties as reasonably required
