Job summary

Refresco is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor on a 12-month FTC for our Bridgwater site. You will lead HSE across the site, conduct risk assessments for machinery, chemicals and ergonomics, and drive continuous improvement to support sustainability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Degree-level qualification with IOSH or IEMA membership preferred.
• Excellent communication and proactive stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead health, safety and environmental compliance across the site with risk assessments and controls for machinery, chemicals, ergonomics and transport.
• Drive continuous improvement through safety and environmental projects and sustainability objectives.
• Manage internal audits of HSE management systems to ensure legal and company standards.
• Carry out site inspections, monitor KPIs and analyze data for trends and improvements.
• Develop and deliver training on HSE policies, procedures and behavioural safety programs to strengthen engagement.
• Build relationships across the business and with external regulators including HSE and Environment Agency.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Lead health, safety and environmental compliance across the site, conducting risk assessments and implementing controls for key areas including machinery safety, chemical safety, ergonomics and workplace transport.
• Drive continuous improvement through the delivery of safety and environmental projects, supporting the achievement of best-in-class performance and sustainability objectives.
• Manage and conduct internal audits of health, safety and environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company standards.
• Carry out site inspections, monitor key performance indicators, and analyse health, safety and environmental data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Develop, implement and deliver training on health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and behavioural safety programmes to strengthen site-wide engagement and performance.
• Build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders, supporting new product introductions, leading safety forums, and managing interactions with regulatory bodies including the Health & Safety Executive and Environment Agency.

The ideal candidate would have:

We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional who can confidently influence stakeholders, drive positive change, and promote a strong safety culture across the site. Ideally, you'll hold a NEBOSH Diploma, a degree-level qualification, and membership of IOSH or IEMA, although equivalent experience will also be considered. You'll be a strong communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams, provide clear direction, and deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A proactive approach, leadership capability, and a passion for continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.
