HSE Advisor – Solar PV & BESS

Contract | Competitive Daily Rate

UK Wide (Reading & Ipswich Initially)

A leading renewable energy developer is looking for a proactive and hands-on Health and Safety Advisor to support safe working practices across large-scale solar PV and BESS construction sites throughout the UK. This role will involve travel and close collaboration with both office-based and site teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly experienced renewables firm with an extensive project pipeline and contribute to some of the UK’s largest clean energy developments.

The Role:

You will work closely with the Operations Director to ensure that all operational and construction activities are compliant with UK health and safety legislation.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular HSE site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Supporting incident investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Delivering guidance and training to internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Maintaining and managing health and safety documentation and systems.
  • Supporting compliance with CDM 2015 by helping to coordinate design risk reviews and safety plans.
  • Assisting in the development of CTMPs, CEMPs, and H&S files.
  • Liaising with project teams, designers, and contractors to mitigate design and construction risks.

Key Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (required); NEBOSH Construction or APS membership ().
  • Previous experience working on utility-scale solar PV construction sites (essential).
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK HSE legislation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to travel nationwide as required.
