About the opportunity:

Jacobs is recruiting for a professional Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor, with experience in identifying and mitigating HSE risks. This North-West based role reports operationally to the Strategic Markets Operations Director and functionally to Jacobs Head of HSE for Decommissioning and Regeneration Solutions. The post holder will provide HSE leadership and advice on all HSE-related issues in support of the Strategic Markets business objectives.

The HSE Advisor works closely with all stakeholders to ensure compliance with Nuclear, Radiological, and conventional safety legislation, guidance, and industry best practices, supporting the active implementation of Jacobs BeyondZero and the Culture of Caring.

This role requires travel to various business and project locations.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing competent HSE & Radiological advice and supporting the implementation of Beyond Zero.
  2. Supporting legislative compliance and Jacobs HSE standards in coordination with management.
  3. Maintaining a proactive approach to nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety.
  4. Advising and supporting teams on hazard identification, safe systems of work, and risk assessments.
  5. Monitoring compliance to HSE standards through reviews, inspections, and corrective actions.
  6. Conducting HSE communications meetings and participating in safety forums.
  7. Investigating accidents and incidents for root causes and preventive measures.
  8. Ensuring construction activities comply with CDM requirements.
  9. Visiting off-site offices and projects to ensure HSE procedures are followed.
  10. Developing bid responses and monitoring supply chain HSE compliance.

Qualifications and experience needed:

  • Technical expertise in HSE and environmental requirements.
  • Competent in UK HSE and CDM Regulations.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Membership of IEMA or working towards it.
  • Relevant experience in engineering or construction environments.
