Job description

NESFircroft are working on behalf of an industry leading Power Cabling client who require CV’s for review in preparation to fulfil the role of Health and Safety Advisor UK on their high profile cabling project.


Candidate Scope
The role will be a full time site based role as the project becomes more established. The role will be available on a Contract basis. For the correct, competent and suitable candidate, the role will be based on a 12 month renewable contract based on the project in Dunbar, Scotland. The Advisor position will include departmental and project specific reporting lines, to support the project. The role will focus on giving Health and Safety advice for the onshore installation activities performed by the business and its supporting contractors. The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate proactiveness through regular participation in site safety tours, audits, and attendance at the site health safety meetings ensuring the Business fulfil the role of Principal Contractor under the UK CDM Regulations.


Project Scope includes;

  1. Site Establishment
  2. Site demarcation fencing
  3. Access roads/entrances onto construction easement
  4. Trial Holes (Joint bay positions)
  5. Topsoil strip
  6. Construct Haul Roads
  7. Construct Road / Ditch Crossings
  8. Proving pits and access to HDD entry/exit excavations
  9. Duct proving & cleaning and any associated remedials
  10. Joint bay excavation
  11. Ducts recleaned immediately prior to cable installation
  12. Cable installation (Power & Fibre)
  13. Cable jointing, splicing and associated progressive testing
  14. Reinstatement and demarcation fencing removed
  15. Demobilisation

Candidate requirements

  1. Nationally recognized certificate or equivalent in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, NVQ,NCRQ)
  2. Hold a valid CSCS or CCNSG Card
  3. At least 5 years’ experience in a Health and Safety Advisor role.
  4. Hold an auditor qualification to ISO45001 Standard
  5. Trained in accident incident investigation techniques inc root cause analysis
  6. Have active Continual Professional Development as a Health and Safety professional
  7. Hold IOSH Membership.
  8. Previously held advisory positions on Renewable Energy, HVDC or Transmission Projects.
  9. Competent and proficient onshore civil and energy construction projects.
  10. Worked previously for a Principal Contractor under UK CDM Regulations.
  11. Fully conversant in UK Health and Safety Legislation.
  12. Proficient in ALARP Risk Management Principles
  13. Comfortable writing project plans and procedures to manage health and safety.
  14. Must be customer facing, feel comfortable managing tier contractors and previous managing a small team.
  15. Must be proactive and self-motivated.
  16. Ideally have previous Scottish Power / Iberdrola project experience.
  17. Proficient in the English language and Microsoft Office.
  18. Must have the right to work in the UK.
