Job description

HSDU Technician (Band 2)

An interesting and exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals with a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety to join the team within the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU). We provide operating theatres, wards, and departments with surgical instruments and medical devices required for sterile procedures. This role supports clinical and surgical teams in delivering excellent, high-quality, and safe patient care.

Hours of Post

37.5 hours per week. Part-time candidates will be considered.

Working Pattern

1. Two posts available:
2. Tuesday night: 9pm - 7am
3. Wednesday night: 9pm - 7am
4. Thursday night: 9pm - 7am
5. Friday night: 9pm - 6:30am

The roles require flexibility with cross-site working between the Trust’s two hospitals: Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital. Ability to travel independently between sites is essential.

Candidate Requirements

• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
• Enthusiasm and a good general education
• Ability to follow instructions and processes
• Experience in Sterile Services is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to work well both independently and within a team
